I have a lare dog that has learnt how to open the the kitchen and front doors himself by putting his paws on them/the handle and pressing down.
I want to make a simple shock system , that will occurr when he does this, just enough to discourage him, and make him think after a few times that he shouldnt be doing it.
If the contraption can run off batteries so much the better

Haha, as brutal as that sounds it is definitely possible. You can use the same hardware design as seen in the stunning camera:
