Hey Simplywel,
Thanks for the suggestion!
One quick question before I get working on a tutorial for that:
When you say a tutorial about a remote control toy car, do you want to know:
(a) How to integrate the microcontroller into the remote control itsself inorder to control the car
or
(b) How to modify the toy car so that it does whatever the microcontroller tells it (on-board, not remotely)
or
(c) How to just to remote-control stuff in general with a microcontroller
Just a simple clarification is all. Thanks!
Don't worry if you're too new for some or all of this that's why I write these tutorials |

im sorry i didn't write the details on what i want..
this was my idea, i would like to use my PC as a remote conroller..
which is to interface the remote controller to a PC
and i would use the arrow keys of my keyboard to control the toy car..
can you help me with that? your given options were also interesting i would love to know them all, just post them in the site.. thanks in advance! |

Hi Simplywel,
Now I've got a better idea of what you're curious to see...
One way to implement this would be to hookup a PIC to the remote control (inorder to control the rc car) and then to connect the pic to the serial port on your computer. Then you could make a small program on your desktop that would send commands to the pic (through the serial port) which would inturn control the rc car via remote.
(or)
You could also modify a parallel cable (the big 25 pin one) and hook it straight up to the rc remote control, eliminating the need of the pic. Then make a small program on your computer that set pins on the parallel port when you pressed the arrow keys.
These are just to give you an idea of how you could do this and how complex the tutorial/project would be. Pick one of those, let me know & I'll see what I can come up with. |

Oh yeah!
That is what i was thinking..you kinda hack the remote controller and hook it up to a PIC then send commands via serial connection..yeah..
The problem is i dont know how to do it..dont know what i'll program for the PIC to do..i really need your help here..thanks!
I love this forum! |

Hey simplywel,
I'll put something together either a project or a tutorial. I think this idea is more project oriented than tutorial because it combines multiple concepts.
Give me a week or two. Thanks again for the suggestion. |

Hey simplywel,
Thanks for the idea again, I put up the project write-up here:
http://www.pyroelectro.com/projects/auto_drift/index.html
It's not exactly, exactly what you described but I think it has the spirit of your idea and will give you some direction if you decide to do the project as well. |
